January 21, 2023: The Girl Who Wrote in Silk: A Novel of Chinese Immigration to the Pacific Northwest by Kelli Estes

The Exclusion Act of 1882 prohibited the immigration of Chinese laborers to the US. It was the only major federal legislation to specifically halt immigration for a specific nationality. This historical novel of one woman’s discovery that a family-owned ship returning Chinese to their homeland had dumped the immigrants overboard changes her life and career plans.
