AAUW Works To Close the Pay Gap

Analyzing the gender pay gap is critical to
understanding women’s immediate and long-term

The data published end of December 2022 help to demonstrate that there is not just one pay gap, but rather many gaps—in earnings, benefits and wealth.

Get Ready To Vote in The November 5 Elections

Learn more about elections and voting at Ohio’s site VoteOhio.gov .

Dates to remember: Check back in September to verify the following dates.

Register by October 5. You must be registered to vote, and your registration must be current.   You can register online if you have

    • Ohio driver’s license or Ohio identification card number
    • Name
    • Date of birth
    • Address
    • Last four digits of your Social Security number

If you do not have some of the above information, you will need to register using a paper mail-in form.

Voting absentee or by mail?  It is recommended you return the form to your county board of elections no later than October 29, 2024.  Your county may allow you to fill out the request form online. The timing of counting absentee ballots has changed. In Ohio, absentee ballots are the first votes counted on Election Night.

We Need Good Information to Vote

Voting wisely means understanding your government and getting reliable information about the candidates.  The League of Women Voters of Ohio publishes a free book you can download called Know Your Ohio Government.  They also publish what your candidates have responded to a set of questions.  Find their voter guide called Vote 411 here. 

The judge races are important. Get to know the judge candidates at The League’s Judicial Votes Count so you can vote these races.

AAUW’s Priorities

The AAUW Action Fund website is your link to voter guides that provide nonpartisan information about candidates’ positions on issues important to women and families such as Pay equity. Paid family leave. Title IX. Lowering student debt. Stopping sexual harassment. You can find candidates’ voting records published in their Congressional Voting Record.

AAUW Ohio monitors and cooperates with other nonprofits to score the Ohio legislature on women’s interests.  In a must-read post, the Women’s Public Policy Network summarizes the scoring within three issue areas.

  2. Ensuring fairness and equal opportunity in the workplace
  3. Improving women’s health and well-being
